Annual Events
Each year, volunteers work with the Juniper Ridge Activities Director to host the following fabulous Special Events.
4th of July Celebrations
Decorate your golf cart in red, white & blue and participate in the fun and wacky parade - or cheer for the procession as it makes its way down your street. Old Glory flies high and patriotic spirit abounds. Later in the day, join your friends in the Grand Lodge for a Country Pot Luck dinner. Each group of residents decorates their table to keep the patriotic spirit alive in a friendly, non-competitive way. Entertainment follows dinner and completes the festive day.
Bella Rosa Italian Feast
If
you missed this event last year, make sure you are first in line for the next
one! This is always a wonderful evening with live music and the Grand
Lodge decorated like a fabulous Italian restaurant. The twenty six
waiters, yes... twenty six, do a great job serving their guests a
delicious dinner of garden salad, Italian bread, pasta with meat
sauce and then finishing with the Bella Rosa Lemon Cake. Our resident
chefs, Joe and Linda Wida, do an excellent job preparing our special
dinner and made sure it was served fresh and hot out of the kitchen. The
Bella Rosa is sponsored by the Beautification Club, which uses the net
proceeds from ticket sales to keep our resort looking fresh and
beautiful.
Mystery Dinner Theater
This is a new event at Juniper Ridge Resort in 2011. The action takes place in Cactus Gulch, AZ in the 1880's and features a cast of 30 "characters" who will create the circumstances in which an old prospector is killed. During the course of the evening the characters and the audience will work together to find out who killed the old prospector. Laughs and suspense are an important part of the evening as is a delicious catered meal.
Juniper Ridge Olympics
Each
year, a bunch of energetic Juniper Ridgers participate in the JR
Olympics. All Olympians, judges and committee members have a great time
β and the viewing audience is in for a treat, too. The events include
activities such as the Golf Snake Toss, Poker Run (in golf carts),
Shuffleboard, Pitch and Run, Chip in a Bucket, Horseshoes, Bingo, and
the ever popular "No Peek Cart Race". The teams show great spirit,
including the creation of cheers which are delivered each morning as
they meet to learn the previous day's winners and get started for that
day's events.
Hillbilly Weddin' Ball
What a kick! Go shopping at your favorite thrift shop and come up with a hilarious outfit and wear your 'new' thrift shop threads to this fabulous ball. The Grand Lodge will be transformed into a fun and hilarious hillbilly atmosphere. Admission is a donation of canned or packaged food to be contributed to a local food bank. This often accompanies an extra food drive which can turn into a crazy neighborhood contest.
Talent Show
Wow!
What a night of entertainment! Actually, there are two consecutive
nights of song, dance, and skits β Saturday and Sunday β and both
performances are usually sold out. Laugh βtil your sides hurt as your
friends and neighbors perform in skits and tell jokes, or sit back and
enjoy the musicians and dancers. Many others work behind the scenes. Oh
my, the finale will be a sight to see!
