The 'Cool-Summer' Resort for Active Adults

Theme Parties

Each year, a creative team of residents works together with the help of the Activities Director and staff to host an elaborate and wonderful theme party. The following is just a sampling of the parties enjoyed in recent years. What will they think of next?!

2007 - Luau!
What a party we had! The Grand Lodge was a sea of tropical colors, with the fabulous decorations and all of the beautiful luau garb. The decorating team outdid themselves on everything from the table decorations to the Tiki Bar and the island backdrops. Hawaiian music was provided, and we were entertained by a very talented group of Hula Dancers from Show Low and their ‘apprentices’ selected from among our very own Juniper Ridge residents. Men in grass skirts and coconut bras – now that’s entertainment! Throughout the evening, Chi Chi punch was flowing and conversation was light.  Dinner was a Hawaiian Feast prepared by Juniper Ridge residents who comprised the cooking team. With the 28 dining tables split among four ‘islands’, each with their own buffet table, the 264 guests were served in less than 20 minutes, leaving more time for enjoying the feast.
It was a night to remember, and everyone had a great time!

2008 - Mardi Gras
Oh yes! Juniper Ridge residents really get into the Mardi Gras spirit! Masks, beads, feather boas, and lots of jewel colors were the dress of the evening. A King & Queen of Mardi Gras were selected and crowned, and a fabulous Cajun dinner was served. Who says seniors are a tame group?

2009 - Cruise on the SS Juniper Ridge

The Grand Lodge was turned into the SS Juniper Ridge cruise ship on this fun night. Dinner in the ship's main dining room was wonderful, and there were photo ops with Captain John Naughton and his lady. After dinner, cruisers took shore excursions on the Patio, being entertained at various ports of call. When they returned to the Grand Lodge, it had been transformed into the ship's theater. A comedy show of skits performed to various songs kept the cruisers in stitches.
